Welcome to Pre-School
Our Aim
Robinswood Pre-school is part of the Robinswood Primary School community. We celebrate the richness and diversity in our multi-cultural society and teach every child the need for mutual respect. We recognise that your child’s first educational experiences are very important and we are excited to be part of their journey.
‘A person is a person no matter how small.’ Dr.Seuss
Our dedicated team place the child at the heart of everything we do; we want every child to ‘be the best they can be!’ Staff work together to ensure high expectations of academic achievement and behaviour. We understand the needs and interests of the children, giving them the opportunity to develop their strengths as well as supporting with areas they need to develop.
‘It shouldn’t matter how slowly a child learns as long as we are encouraging them not to stop.’ Robert John Meehan
How do we do it?
Play is a key way in which young children learn, it is both enjoyable and challenging. Our Pre-school provides a rich indoor and outdoor learning environment that allows children to access a variety of learning opportunities and experiences. We ensure frequent opportunities are provided for the children to pursue their own ideas.
Children learn in different ways and at different rates. Each day your child will choose activities that are planned and offered to promote the development of the prime and specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and the progression towards Early Learning Goals. We work on seven areas of learning:
• Communication and language development.
• Physical development.
• Personal, social, and emotional development.
• Literacy development.
• Mathematics.
• Understanding the world.
• Expressive arts and design.
Building Resilience
It is very important that the children develop a sense of security, belonging and worth. We encourage the children to be strong and independent through building positive relationships with their friends and with us as the adult team around them. We are consistent in setting clear expectations and boundaries. Our school key values underpins everything we do. The values relate to the word BEST, coming from our school vision of ‘Be the BEST you can be’:
Believe (Believe in themselves and others, show respect)
Engage (Engage with learning, rules and with others/ teamwork)
Succeed (Succeed, aspire and achieve)
Try (Try, effort, persistence and resilience)
How do we work together?
We work closely with parent(s)/carers sharing knowledge of children’s experiences, strengths and needs. We use Tapestry to record your children’s learning through observations. We like to talk to our parents and get to know our children’s families; by working together it will improve your child’s learning outcomes.
